Lincoln Mark LT (F-150 clone) to start at $40,000

Lincoln Prices Mark LT From $39,995

The first Lincoln pickup truck since the ill-fated Blackwood arrives in the 2006 model year wearing a pricetag of $39,995, Ford said on Tuesday. The company has big plans for the Mark LT, the F-150-based Lincoln truck that will come in rear-drive and 4x4 form (the latter priced from $43,495. To promo the big new truck, Lincoln will spend its first money in a decade on Super Bowl advertisements; Lincoln also will sponsor the Sport Illustrated Super Swimsuit Party at the Super Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla., on Feb. 5, the day before the big event. And to cap it all off, Lincoln is giving away a "Jet to Jacksonville" package on its Web site, http://www.lincoln.com, to a lucky winner who gets tickets to the game, airfare and hotel, and tickets to the swimsuit party, too.

Undercutting the Escalade EXT by $13,000 is definitely a good start.

Ugh. I just wish they'd at least attempted to make it different from the F150 other than some pretty chrome and hopefully a little nicer interior.

Considering that it's about the same price as a fully-loaded F-150 anyway, they did it right. It should sell fairly well.

Why exactly?  I don't think many people would want to drop $40k on a hopped up F-150 from Lincoln.  Mainly the it being a truck is my point since the Navigator isn't bad.  And they waste money on sponsorships and advertising too.  Did they not learn anything from the Blackwood? (that was the name right?)

The Blackwood was a very unique vehicle, it just lacked practicality. This one isn't unique, but is very practical. And considering that it isn't much more expensive than a comparably-equipped F-150 anyway, it should find buyers.

RE: Lincoln Mark LT (F-150 clone) to start at $40,

Hmm... Well, even if it sells, I don't think it's going to be an image improver for Lincoln to be cloning Ford models with very little disguise. Of course, I thought the same thing about the Escalade and Escalade EXT, but they at least looked a little different.

It can't hurt it. Most buyers will probably be under Lincoln's median age, so that'll help. And it'll boost Ford's profits and Lincoln's sales volume.

I don't see why a person would buy a Luxury SUV or definitely truck (there are few SUVs that pertain to this though) because I would never take a $40- $50k vehicle off-road, unless it was a Hummer or sumthin.  Basically I mean if they aren't buying the truck for off-road or pulling stuff, etc. then I think they'd buy at least an SUV.  This isn't just about this Lincoln either.

RE: Lincoln Mark LT (F-150 clone) to start at $40,

Well, Kevin, that is the difference between people who don't think twice about spending that much and normal people... I know a couple (both doctors) that have a small fleet... a 02 Lexus LX470, which they take off road all the time, they're big on camping, an 03 Landcruiser, and an 05 GX470... they take these off road all the time. They make a lot of money, so I guess they feel that their vehicles should be able to take them where they want to go without sacraficing the features of a luxury car. They only vehicle they don't take off road is their Audi TT, which they recently gave to their 18 year old son...

I think a 250hp V6 in that car is pretty powerful. (It's an 04)... and yes, I think it's lunacy to give a $45,000 car to and 18 year old guy.
