Spy Shots: ’06 Audi Q7 The crossover with the mysterious name aims for the U.S.
We ambushed the upcoming Audi crossover wagon on a secret late-night test drive earlier this week. Ignore the phony emblems: this is in fact the new Q7.
Based on the design features that we've seen on Audi's Pikes Peak concept, the Q7 will be riding on a modified Touareg/Cayenne platform, lengthened to accommodate seven passengers in three rows of seats.
The Q7 is expected to be launched as a 2006 model, and will be powered by a 4.2-liter V-8. A diesel option is expected for the 2007 model year.
Side profile, minus the wheels, reminds me of a Magnum for some reason... front is... okay, but not great, but the rear is hideous. Those taillights are terrible.

Those taillights are fakes, the real ones are slimmer and can be seen near the middle.

I kindof thought it might be that, but couldn't really tell... I thought those looked too ridiculous. Good, then. Even if they end up ugly, they can't be worse than that.

Yes, the Cayenne is ugly, but the Touareg is rather plain, in my opinion. I may not love the Audi, but it's not plain by any means, and it does it without being as ugly as the Cayenne.
