Corvette C6 nominated for World Car of the Year Award AMEInfo www.ameinfo.com
The sixth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette – the C6 – has been nominated for the inaugural World Car of the Year Awards, one of only 32 cars to be short listed for the ultimate automotive accolade.
The 2005 Corvette C6 delivers more power, passion and precision than any previous Corvette to reach new standards of performance car excellence. It offers huge amounts of raw performance, improved ride comfort, a precisely built and technically sophisticated interior and a contemporary new body.
With dramatic styling and a new 6.0 liter, V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, the C6 is capable of 300 km/h. It races from a standstill to 100 km/h in only 4.2 seconds and is faster than any production Corvette in history. It has a revised suspension and more powerful brakes, delivering extreme performance capabilities while offering value, style, quality and comfort.
"The sixth generation represents a comprehensive upgrade to the Corvette,' said Chris Probert, Marketing Manager for Corvette. 'Our goal was to create a Corvette that does more things well than any other performance car. Being nominated for the World Car of the Year Awards is proof of our success and we are sure that this will be reflected in sales across Middle East markets.'
The World Car of the Year awards will be announced in conjunction with the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Canada on 16 February 2005.
A jury of 48 journalists representing over one hundred of the world's top automotive print and broadcast media will drive all the nominated vehicles between 1 October and 31 December 2004.

Am I the only one on this planet that's not a huge fan of the C6? It's a nice car, and infinitely better than the last one, but I still wouldn't own one.

It's a good sports car, as in it's fast. But I don't care for the styling, and the interior doesn't impress me greatly. It's nicer than the last one, but not stunning. For the same money I'd rather buy a BMW M3. Not quite as fast, I'm assuming, but has a nicer interior, and looks good. And it handles just as well as the corvette would. In reality, I probably wouldn't buy any of these cars for that money. I'd probably buy a decent mid-lux car.

I don't like the styling of the C6 very much either, but I don't think I'd take an M3 over one, I'd take an Elise over one though, or a C5 Z06.

The interior in the C5 is terrible. It looks like you took the dash from a suburban and scaled it down for a sports car. Materials are crap, too.
