I like the current one much better, that one is a little bulbous like Buicks. The top of the grill looks like the Luminas/Monte Carlos, and the whole grill looks kind of like an Audi. I just don't like it very much, it's not necessarily bad, but I always like the current Impalas a lot. I suppose that they are still going to be FWD only, right?

I don't know why so many people dislike FWD. It's not great if you want to do a burnout and cut donuts, but other than that, I like it, and I find it easier to work with in ice and snow conditions.

I wasn't meaning I dislike it, I was just wondering.

and your point is........?
No offense, but why does a "sporty" car have to be RWD?
(I also think that at least the SS should be RWD, but I'd still like to know)

Because so many people think along the stereotype that a sports style car has to be RWD or it's crap. This isn't true, in my mind, but there are some things about RWD that make it more fun (when used illegally) than a FWD car.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at, a mainstream sedan really doesn't have to be RWD. And there really is no purposeful reason why it should be.

Wizard, I hope you know that I'm not saying that FWD sports cars are crap. My main reason is that a big, torquey engine like the one that Chevy is offering in the SS model should not be FWD due to torque steer and lack of traction. FWD on the other models are fine, I doubt people who buy them will make the pedal pass the kickdown.

No, I didn't think that, I was actually trying to poke fun at some of the RWD trolls on C&D. I know what you mean about lack of traction, I have a Camry, and it only has 185hp to the front wheels, with some extremely good tires, and I know how lacking it is in traction when you stomp it from a stand still. There's no way I'd want 303hp directed at my front wheels. I could do a burn out that would last a year. (or I'd end up in a ditch)

IIRC, the Cadillac Deville and previous gen Seville are front wheel drive and I haven't heard anyone complaining about torque steer on them.
