New Mitsu Eclipse

GS models will be equipped with a 2.4-liter, 165-hp four and either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. GTs will get one extra ratio per gearbox and a 3.8-liter, 260-hp V-6. The coupe is due in mid-2005 with the Spyder following in 2006.

I'm very dissapointed too, I like the 3000GT look of the current one. The grill they have on this one (and the Raider) doesn't work for me, it works for the Evo and is ok on the Gallant. The main problem is it's just way too bulky. I don't like the taillights, and you can barely tell the front from the back either. I'm just real dissapointed, I'll probably do a chop sometime too.

Engines are fine, but the styling is not good, and the interior isn't impressively designed either.

The styling is OK, but that rear end is terrible.The interior is very good, but there seems to be a huge power gap between the I-4 and the V6, which is bad news for people who can only afford the I-4.

That's because it's a good V6, not because it's a bad 4-cyl. There shouldn't be too many complaints in the power department.

Agreed. The four cylinder engine in the car isn't bad either. The 6 is just pretty powerful.

Just a thought:

The new Eclipse is based on the new Galant. The new Galant doesnt handle bad, in fact, I clearly remember an article in MT stating that it handled German good. Meaning, this may be a good handling Eclipse!

I hope for their sake that it's amazing enough in the handling department to make up in the departments where it lacks, like styling, and interior design.
