A friend of mine got a brand new 2005 Mustang GT yesterday. It's black, with a black leather interior, Shaker 1000 watt sound system ($1400 option!) 17" wheels, Pirelli PZero tires, Anti-theft, etc. Anyway, total price came to $32,000. She called me today and said she was coming by to pick me up. Offered to let me drive, but it was just too new, so I said no (I'll drive it within the next week, I garauntee it), so I rode with her. Anyway, I was very impressed. The engine is quiet, the sound system with the build in 10" subwoofers was very loud, but quality was pretty good too. Six disc indash CD player with MP3 is nice, and the seats/leather were very comfortable. Materials seemed good, there are hard plastics and a few cheap plastics, but everything looks nice, anyway. The engine is fantastic. Exhaust note is heavenly, and the acceleration from that V8 was amazing. At any rate, I liked it, and am looking forward to playing with it again.

I had misplaced my digital cameras, but I took a picture of her standing with it in my driveway on a film camera that I'll have to get developed. If she doesn't mind having her picture on here, I'll post it, if she does, I'll photoshop her out and post it.

It's a beautiful car. I'm not a fan of the regular Mustang styling, really, but the GT looks distinctly "badass", I believe was the very accurately wording used by the owner.

No, afraid not. She was at my house, so I would have been using a digital anyway, but I'd like to be able to tell the car apart from a black bear... and with many camera phones, you can't do that.

They're really that bad? I've seen a few cameraphone pics on C/D, and they look all right.

How much does a decent one cost, do you know? If I ever get a cell (unlikely) I'd like one of those, it's more convenient than carrying a normal camera around.

It depends on what other features you want, but I think you can get a decent one for around $70, you should be able to find a nice one for around $150, and they go all the way up to $400 or so, but most phones at least get a discount if you buy a plan from the company.

Well, as I currently have no need for a cell phone, this remains intriguing but still out of my range. However, were I to get one, a $70 camera phone would be first on the list. Does the service provider add onto the phone bill for taking photos?

Nope, the camera part of the phone isn't connected to your service in anyway. You just have to make sure you don't take more photos than you have memory for, but I don't think that's often a problem.

I'd no doubt fill it up. What does it hold, 20 pics max?
I'm not sure how many mine holds but I'm sure it's a decent amount. I have one of the aformentioned $400ish ones. Of course I got it new for $160 though . The quality default isn't that good but you can choose a better resolution and it's actually really good. Beyond that I have three choice zoom. Not sure how many X it is but it's pretty impressive to me for a phone.
Well, I went out in the Mustang GT again Friday, only this time I was the one in the driver's seat, instead of her. The engine is amazing, it's smooth, very powerful (tap the gas and you take off, floor it and you shoot off), and quiet, until you give it some gas, and then it has a nice purr. I did notice that the plastic trim above the door wasn't put together quite right, and that the plastic under the rear seat wasn't flush in the corner of the carpet, there was a gap there, but other than that quality is very good. I wish they hadn't used hard (cheap) plastics where your arm sits (the inset trim in the door, rather than being leather, is the hard plastic) but other than that, I still really, really, like the car.

Sounds sweet. Was it a manual? How did you find the steering? Did you get a chance to test out the handling?
No, it wasn't a manual , but I'm not that good with them anyway. The steering took me a little while to get used to, I'm used to Camry steering, which is pretty light, and the Mustang, while not what I'd call heavy, was definitely not light. In a car like this, I preferred that, it made controlling that power much easier. And yes, I did get the opportunity to test out the handling. It's very well balanced, not as stiff as some sports enthusiasts might like, but what it gives up in stiffness it made up for in daily driving comfort. Anyway, I found the handling to be very predictable and easily controlled. The traction control kept things from getting out of hand, anyway.
