I really like that one. To me, at the risk of sounding odd, the current car is too flashy (in a tacky/gaudy sorta way). But this looks more modern and mainstream, which has proven successful in this segment. If they keep the look, add a little more power, use real or better looking faux wood on the inside and keep the warrenty this could be a mainstreamed hit for Hyundai.
For a bland car, it looks good and un-outgoing; it's nothin special. However, if they reshaped the front bumper, changed the grille slightly, and used less flowery wheels, it'd look pretty awesome.

Ford Five Hundred. A spy shot released earlier looked exactly like it.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the front was Crossfire (in the grill), but the rear looks Five Hundred ish, and I can't put my finger on the front, maybe they actually came up with it all on their own (no offense).

They'll still have to pull off the interior as well and pack it full of those really high-tech toys (like laser cruise control, etc.) Or the Avalon will continue to have a good excuse for being more expensive.

I don't doubt that it will have a high-quality interior, and considering that it will probably start something like $2,500 less than a BASE Avalon, which would have far fewer features, and top out under $30,000 (I would assume), it doesn't need the same luxury features as the $37,000 version of the Avalon, which probably wouldn't be the most popular anyway.
It will compare well to the Avalon XLS, but the Limited is a class above in both price and feature content.
It wasn't that I doubted the interior quality, just that the Avalon's was extremely good, and the Hyundai would have to be very close in quality, unless there's a significant price advantage. If Hyundai has both, then they'll have a winner.

I'm more confident that Hyundai will have a significant price advantage than that it will rival the Avalon's interior quality (though it will no doubt be excellent as well). I'm predicting prices to start around $25,000 MSRP, and that Hyundai dealers will be more willing to deal.

I imagine you're about right on on all guesses there. Most Toyota dealers I've been to aren't the most... dealing type, especially on a new model. I've had good luck with one in Iowa, but that's too far to drive to find out around how much I could deal one down to.
More info: The car may be called the "Areza". Some pics have surfaced, but I'm not posting until some nicer ones come out. The rear does look disappointingly like the Accord's, even more so than the new Sonata's.

What the heck does Areza mean? I'm assuming it's some Korean word.

What does Camry mean? What does Sentra mean? What do Altima, Maxima, Corolla, or Solara mean? And with Hyundai, what does Elantra mean, or Sportage or Amanti?
Names don't have to mean anything as long as they sound good (not saying this one does, but more time is needed to decide).
Camry means royalty. I have no clue about the others, but I read about the Camry name on some other forum. I didn't know it was a Japanese word until then. I just wondered if they said what Areza meant, sometimes when they launch a foreign model with a name like that, they'll explain what it means in English. I don't think Areza is as smooth sounding as Sonata or Tiburion, but maybe I'll grow to like it more later.
