I'm buying a new laptop in the near future, and I'm not quite sure what to get. Here are my requirements:
It had a Pentium 4 Hyper Threaded processor (no less than 3.3Ghz), a 128MB or (preferably) 256MB video card, a minimum of 1GB of RAM, and a screen no smaller than 15".
I've gone through and customized a couple from Alienware and IBM, but I'm not happy with my options as of this point. (Alienwares are ugly.) Does anyone have any suggestions on good brands of high-performance laptops to buy? Money's not too much of a concern, but I'd like to keep it under $4,000 if possible.

Because I already have a pretty nice (not top of the line, but close) desktop, and I need a laptop, something I can take with me anywhere. And I can't buy 8 desktops capable of heavy processing and potentially video editing for that much. I know it's a lot to spend when a decent one can be had for around $1200 to $1500, but I need a laptop, and I need something high end.

Is this for work or for personal use? Does your job involve video editing?

Both, but the video/graphics editing, as well as 3-D design, will be more education and work related. If it were just personal, I'd buy a decent laptop for around $1500, and put a few hundred in upgrading my desktop.

You sound like more of an expert on this subject than probably anyone on here (I can speak for myself, and probably for Kevin as well). I'd post this on C/D, you'll get more responses from more-knowledgable people.

Well, I'll probably do that then. I just wondered if a few on here might know of some other decent high-performance brands. I'll keep checking this, but I'll post it on C/D too.
