Scion to Unveil All-New Concept Vehicle at 2005 New York International Auto Show www.GMInsidenews.com Source: NYIAS Media Outlet
TORRANCE, Calif., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Scion, from Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., will unveil an all-new concept vehicle at a press conference at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. This all-new concept, known as t2B, reflects Scion's key product philosophies of style, versatility and surprise. It encompasses bold exterior styling, innovative features, and a passenger-friendly interior, all packaged with Scion's requisite fun-to-drive factor. The Scion press conference will be held on Thursday, March 24 in the Special Events Hall downstairs in the Javits Convention Center at 8:30 am EST.
They don't actually say what it is though, but Admin at GMI says,
"My guess it will be a 4-door sedan. (Smallish one). They have 2 hatches already and a coupe. I can't see an SUV at this point in the game, so 4 door car is the next logical progression."

Could be a sedan... maybe an echo replacement? Or a more youth-oriented compact? It'll be interesting to see. If it's as good, respectively, as the tC is, it should do well. Scions seem to be sought after around here. It doesn't matter which Scion you drive, whether it's the xA (which I think is ugly), the xB (which takes getting used to, but is really cool), or the tC, you must be cool.

Yeah, the Scion booth so packed the other day.

I doubt they'd rebadge anything. The xA and xB were brought over from Japan, but I think they're now seeking to develop a more unique model line up from their other brands now. If they use the Avensis platform again, it'll be distinctly different than the Avensis, I'm sure.

That would be a nice car, but probably not what they're looking for. It's attractive, though not exciting-looking, and is a midsize sedan.
I'd expect a sedan version of the xA or xB, probably unique to the US, and will hopefully be different enough from the next Echo that it doesn't entirely destroy its sales, like the Scion hatches did to the current Echo.
The other possibility would be the replacement for the xA or the xB, which are nearing the end of their life cycles in Japan.

I personally think they'll have something completely different than what they have now. I would imagine they'd make it very different from the next echo, I don't think they want to start the GM-habit of having rebadged models that compete with each other, that, and they want Scions to appear completely different from any of their Toyota models, it was part of their goal from the start. I don't think they'd replace either the xA or the xB for a while, since they're new here, especially the xB. It's a love it or hate it vehicle, but it's made enough of a stir to have other companies jumping up making boxy small SUV/Wagon concepts intended to compete with the xB, and I don't think they'll mess with that success for a few years, at least.

In retrospect, a Scion tC sedan is the most likely new vehicle, and would be very successful IMO. However, that wouldn't really be concept-worthy, so this probably isn't it.

I agree completely. Maybe they'll be able to make a small to small mid-sized sedan with some tC influence. At any rate, I'm sure they'll come up with something interesting. They have so far.

It'll probably be crowded to say the least, but get as many pictures as you can. I'd like to see some realistic (not press shot) photos of this thing, whatever it will be.
And the interior looks like what people in the '50s would have depicted a future kitchen to look like.

I like it. It's of course radical in the concept version, but just try to imagine those styling cues on the current xB body and with a high-quality, more-conventional Toyota interior, and it is a logical xB replacement.

I expect to see basically what Kevin posted, a boxy shape (possibly with a steeper windshield rake) with that front end, and smaller windows. I expect to see none of that interior carry through.
