Porsche announces development of Cayman sports car; vehicle to slot between Boxster, 911 Posted Date: 2/23/05 Porsche long-rumored fourth vehicle line has finally been announced. Called the Cayman S, the vehicle will be a two-seat sports car based on the Boxster. Porsche says it will be available for the 2006 model year.
Positioned and priced between the 911 Carrera and the Boxster S, the Cayman will be powered by a 295 hp, 3.4-liter, six-cylinder boxer en
gine mounted amidships. Porsche also claims the Cayman's increased space utilization will make it a more practical type of sports car.
Looks like a hard-top Boxster to me. And that name is just so great don't you think?

I was actually being sarcastic. It just doesn't sound right for this type of car, maybe that's because it sounds kind of like Cayenne, though.

I had read that the Cayman was going to be slightly cheaper than the equivalent Boxster model (base cheaper than base, S cheaper than S). I don't like this news that it will cost more.

I wasn't, I kindof like Cayman. Sounds like Caveman. Who wouldn't want to say they drive the Porsche Caveman?

A Cayman is a type of small crocodile type creature. My dad used to have one as a pet.
And personally, I think Porsche should stick to numbers and give up this naming stuff.

But Caveman sounds more like a truck/SUV instead of a sports cars name. The actual name is find, but since it sounds like Cayenne (and Caveman) it seems to me like it'd be more appropriate on a truck/SUV.

I was joking about the Caveman thing, but the last thing I want is another Porsche SUV, or God-forbid, a truck. But MX is probably right, they should stick to numbers.

I knew you were joking, and yeah the should probably stay with numbers.

You're lumping PMC in with Michael Jackson? They're not alike. One molests children, one molests the internet. Hmm. Well, I guess they're kindof alike.
