If you could have...

$5,000 to do anything to your car or the car you will get (and no upgrading to a different car) what would you do?

Mazdaspeed suspension kit, a good set of performance summer tires and some snow tires on alloys for the winter. I'd also kind of like to get the dealer installed MP3 player or in-dash CD changer and a pair of sparco racing buckets if there's enough left over.

I don't know if it could be done for $5,000 because I don't know a whole lot about aftermarket mechanical upgrades, but I'd want to figure out a way to fit the V6 from the new Avalon in my older Camry (since it has a nicer interior and an already larger engine than the 2000). Better gas mileage, 95 more horsepower... I'd like that.

Speaking of gas, it's up to $2.06 here now. How bad is it elsewhere?

Same here. No reason to put any investment into my car now more than maybe vacuuming it.

I've seen gas in my area for $1.98, but most stations were between $2.05 and $2.15.

I don't know, I'll ask my mom when she gets back.  Last I knew it was about $1.90.

Ridiculous. When Exxon Mobil can make over 200 billion a year in profit, they can afford to cut prices a little bit. The man I talked to from Schlumberger on Thursday didn't seem to like my opinion much though.

When Exxon-Mobil can make over $200 billion per year in profit, they're probably not interested in your analysis.

No, probably not, but if more people knew how much money they were making, there might at least be more commentary about it.

probably cant be done. You'd need new engine mounts, modified exhaust and intake, and all the electronics from the avalon (and some other crap I cant remember). Oh, and it probably wont fit on your Camry's transission.

I wouldn't expect it to fit my transmission, but if Rod Millen can take the 4.3 V8 from the LS430 and put it in the Lexus IS300 (last version of the V6 in my car) surely it can be done...

Why would you try to fit it to the old transmission? Swap the whole transaxle from the Avalon right in there. Same thing with SR20DET swaps in 240SXs. Do you think they mate the old tranny up to the new motor? No, they swap the tranny out as well.

Maybe you're not Rod Millen. ^_^

The IS300's inline 6 is in no way related to the Camry engine, unless you have a very rare vehicle.
