Do you like, dislike, or feel something else towards Hummer's new "small" 30 grand SUV? Personally, I think it will be like the C240; people will only buy it for the name and the image. People will buy it, slap on 22 inchers, and never even see a dirt road. However, I do not hate it, for it seems to have a decent interior. (In a Hummer? Whoa!) And it will probably be capable off road; although most may not be used for that purpose.

I expect initial popularity, followed by a sharp sales dropoff, rather like the H2 experienced. However, if this thing manages to get better interior packaging, drive more like a regular midsize SUV onroad, and stay fresh in the public view, it should do very well, and may even be a decent vehicle.

And it needs a more powerful engine.

That, and I don't think Hummer should have made a smaller SUV. It's midsize, but when you think "Hummer" you think of a huge hulking mass of off-road beast. This won't fit the Hummer image.

The H3 is still far from petite.

To many that was a bad thing, though.

I think it's okay, like others mentioned it will probably sell pretty well and then sales will slow, like the H2.  I'm not much for the styling either, it's basically a smaller H2 with odd fender bulges.

True, but it doesn't have the hulking image the H2 conveys, let alone the H1.

Pretty close.

In real life the look pretty small (well, they're tall but not very wide, looking anyway).

I think that it will sell well at first, then sales will fizzle out. If it is actually a good car, then sales might even improve over time.

If it does turn out to be a good car, then GM will have to market it as such, rather than just a little Hummer. If marketed as just an inexpensive way to get a Hummer, sales will go away after initial popularity. However, it is marketed as a competitive vehicle, and can actually hold its own as one, it shouldn't experience a sales decline.

Too small and subtle to be a Hummer, and too awkward to be anything else.

Small for a Hummer, yes, but the styling is anything but subtle.
