Are you left or right handed? Which do you drive with?
I'm right handed but drive with my right, as well as on my bike, it's not necessarily hard to use my right, but it's really odd (I can't use my right at all on my bike or I crash).

I'm nearly ambidextrous, but I'm primarily right handed. When I drive single handed, I drive with my left, though. I don't ride bikes anymore, so I don't know what to tell you about that. I used to go mountain biking, but I ran out of time to do such things.

So your Escort's a manual? Kewl, I'd like to have the Grand Am a manual but it's not but that's where my hand always is.

I'm a lefty though am pretty ambidextrous (typical of lefties since it's a right-handed world). I drive with my left hand on the wheel and the right on the shifter (or the wheel when cruising down the highway). If I ride a bicycle with one hand, it's usually with my right. A habit I picked up from my motorcycle experience, since the throttle is on the right handlebar so you have to drive with your right when riding a motorcycle with one hand.
I was never able to ride a motorcycle one-handed, no matter which hand it was.

Why is that surprising? I had a '70s Honda, I don't live in town, I rode it around on our twenty acres and on the gravel roads.

I've noticed that people who drive manuals seem to be a lot more adimant in their opinions of their transmissions than those who drive automatics.

That's because there is no logical reason on why an auto is better (I'm not saying either is better because it's a matter of preference).
