Toyota & Daihatsu

I saw the Daihatus Move while playing Gran Turismo 4 and thought it looked a lot like the Scion xB, so I went back and read that Daihatsu and Toyota are connected.  I just thought this was kind of interesting, because it also said that Daihatsu is an asset to Toyota by producing compact cars.

The cars may look a bit similar, but they share no details, or even the basic body shape. The "microvan" has been popular in Japan for years, and there are lots of cars similar in intent and shape to the xB (the BB in Japan).

Daihatsu is either owned by Toyota, or just controlled by them, but I know their listed as a Toyota company on the investor information sheets.

That's correct, but the xB was not one of the products of their collaboration. They sell a co-designed set of microcars in the Chinese market.

The xB is based on the Echo platform, the Move is not.

I didn't know whether they had anything to do with each other.  You might notice I only said they look similar.

The fact that you included the information about Toyota and Daihatsu's ties suggests you did think that they were based on each other. And I don't even think that they do.
