Pick your favorite and post which engine and level you'd pick, and rank the rest, and give your reasons and opinions. (And you can choose from all engines and levels.) (Except the super-hot rod versions.) Also, what do you think of each model as a whole?
OK, I chose the Infiniti M (Big surprise, eh? ). No really, even without my Nissan obsession, I would still choose the M. Specificalyy for me, M45 Sport in Obsidian Black with black/aluminum interior, appeatance package, and journey package if I have enough money.
So here are my reasons:
Mercedes CLS is heavy, and with the proper engine, the price is too pricey and not powerful enuff for me or the competitors.
The E - Not heavy, but prices are still high, and not powerful enuff for me or the competitors. (Not that its bad)
Lexus GS- Looks classy, and the V8 is good, but its pricey, and the drive probably isnt that fun.
Audi A6 - good V8, ok V6 (but probably too weak for the weight), Quattro is good, looks good.
STS - I don't my car to look like oragami.
5 Series - I don't want my car to look like a fatass bird either.
Acura RL - Looks awesome, in some ways the best looking, sometimes the 2nd. Good blend.
Infiniti M - The M35 is a real bargain without having a crappy interior or pathetically weak engine (coughBMWcough). It has plenty of luxury features, it looks muscular (and plain awesome with the appearance package), and, uh, torque! (coughAcuracough) And the M45 has even more torque (and HP) and looks even better, and has more stuff. And its much cheaper than an E500 or the other cars with V8's.
For now, not having driven any of the three 06 models, I'm going to go with the M45. Excellent, competitive pricing, quick and refined powertrains, and hopefully an adequately roomy and comfortable interior, with nimble handling without sacraficing ride comfort. For now, my order:
To avoid any arguments, I'll just say that the GS, M and STS are my top picks, but I'm not too fond of the M's styling. I also like the A6 very much, but not as much as those three. The others just don't do anything for me.

I voted GS. I like the M a lot, it'd be my second choice, but it's interior is too cold for my tastes, and from what I've read, the GS does luxury better, which would be my primary concern with these cars, since all of them are more than capable when it comes to sport. The A6 and RL would be up there on my list too.

I personally dislike the GS interior, there is no trace of luxury whatsoever on the dash.

The M's does look a bit gaudy, but the GS's is simply far too bland for a luxury car.

I don't know. The GS looks high tech and modern to me, but it really needs some wood or aluminum (I prefer wood) to liven up the side parts of the dash.

It has a bit of aluminum on the center stack, but other than that it's simply two tones of plastic.
And the worst part is that, after extensive evalutation, I've arrived at the conclusion that there is no simple place to add a bit of wood, the entire design would have to be scrapped to make it worthwhile.
I don't know what Lexus was thinking with that interior, I just hope that design philosophy doesn't find its way onto other models.

I don't remember what the IS dash is supposed to look like, but I'm sure the LS would never see the light of day without enough wood on the dash to make a canoe.

Slacker, the IS pics were only at the bottom of the first Luxury Car page here:
Center stack at least is opulant enough to distract from the rest of the dash, unlike in the GS."
True. If they'd combined that look with the slant of the GS's center dash (I prefer it to the bubbled out look of the IS's center) it might have been better, and they still would have had empty side dash.

I don't really like the GS's center stack shape so much that I'd be willing to excuse the rest of the dash because of it. Lexus just really dropped the ball here, IMO.

Nope.

The pictures make it look bad. Have you seen one in real life? When I saw a CLS55AMG at NY, I couldnt stop staring at it.
