Those would be extremely specialized threads. I'm not sure that would work.
I meant, create a thread for the Civic, and let's discuss it: point by point.
Then, the Scion.
As for the Si, that's a rather limited definition of halo car. Also, keep in mind that the Sport Compact Crowd was not a nationwide movement until the '90s.

I already started the Civic thread. And the Sport Compact Crowd did start mostly in the '90s, but the Civic wasn't a major player until the Si, which became the halo car of the tuner crowd.

The Si sparked interest, but it was simply an igniter for fuel that had already been pumped through. The CRX was a Civic halo car, for instance. More on this in the other thread, I suppose.
The Civic was the first mainstream import car to receive widespread support from the tuner crowd.
Back in 1974, admittedly, and only (initially) in California - but hey! Look up Oscar Jackson Racing.

So what you're saying is that you don't mind buying a vehicle with some prestige that's just not the most prestigious, but when it comes to a prestigeless brand like Hyundai, you'd have second thoughts."
Not exactly... I'm just saying that when every vehicle you've been around from the given prestigeless company (Hyundai) has been crap, and you developed a hatred for the company, it takes a little time to be able to like them again.

Every Hyundai vehicle is crap? I strongly disagree.

he did say every hyundai he'd been around though, just like me and Ford, I haven't liked one Ford I've been around, but I don't take it too far

No, that's not what I said. I said every vehicle from that brand you've ever had experience with was crap. What I meant was that every Hyundai I've dealt with has been a huge dissapointment to me. I haven't had a chance to look at any new ones, but I can already see/hear that they're doing better. All I'm saying is I'm not forgetting the junk they've made either.

And that's why Hyundai has trouble putting out a good product: it's as ill-recieved as a lousy product, mainly because of the 1986 Excel.

Well, I don't remember that, but I do remember my friends former 2000 Sonata(now wrecked), which was a rattly junk bunket. Another girl who I had the displeasure of riding with (and driving for) had a 99 Elantra. Terrible acceleration due to a transmission that shifted whenever it got around to it, and crummy brakes. Add that to an interior that seemed designed to fall apart, and I was disgusted.
