My parents prefer cloth because the seats get real hot in the sun, but I'd get leather over cloth.

They don't really care, they have their opinions and go by them, and it costs more. I don't really know, I'm not worried about it cause by the time they get a new car I'm driving.

My parents were the same way, but they'd never owned a vehicle with leather. After they rode in some of my uncle's cars (most of which have leather, though none were the really expensive lux models with cooled seats) they changed their minds about leather.

I think my parents stopped liking leather after our '95 Impala SS, they sold it and got the Grand Am in Feb. '02.

There was no maintenance problems at all if that's what you mean. I loved that car, I don't know why they sold it. I'll ask. Probably just wanted something new, but they could have gave it to me.

Why would it make them stop liking leather though?
And Kevin, I doubt you could handle anything with a Corvette engine right away. Most new drivers can't/shouldn't. A Grand Am is a much more sensible, albeit crappy first car.

Because of the hot seats, It's not that they don't like it, it's just they prefer cloth and cloth is easier to manage since we kinda live on a farm-kinda. The Corvette engine was still far from the performance in the Corvette. Although easy to spin the power really ahs no effect on the first car as long as you drive like you're supposed to, which no 16 year old does so I see your point. But if I were to drive like I should at all times the power wouldn't matter unless the pedals were touchy.

My Grand Am is in very good condition and compared to the cars that other people my age get It's great, worth twice as much as what my brother and sister's cars were worth.

Okay, take it easy, it was a joke. It's much better than my first car, and much better than my current car.

I know, I was joking too, but now that I actually read it, it doesn't sound like I was joking, sorry.

Well, I have yet to like any GM leather (excluding the STS) and it often feels like vinyl (I know it's not, but if feels that way) after it's been in the sun a few hours... and anyone who's sat on vinyl after it's been in the sun while wearing shorts knows why that's not much fun. The seats in my Camry are navy leather (the interior is dark navy) and gets hotter than hell itself, but I don't stick to them, and my A/C works extremely well, so it doesn't bother me much.

The Malibu LT has good leather/suede seats and I liked all of the Cadillacs' except for the Escalade and Deville.
I haven't seen the Malibu, but I'm not a fan of combo seats... the leather clothish stuff seats in the Avalanche were a prime example to me of how bad it could get, but I don't like the more subtle ones either. I really didn't like the CTS's leather, but the STS and XLR seemed pretty good. The Escalades just seemed like Chevy leather to me.

What's wrong with the combo seats? They can be quite dreadful if not pulled off right, but the Malibu's is very subtle (you don't know it's there until you touch it) and functional (holds you in place during fast cornering, hidden bolsters).

What about GTO?

I like the GTO's as well, sorry I forgot it. As for the combo, I don't know why it doesn't appeal, but believe me, I can tell it's there... because I always feel the seats. I've always been picky with leather, and I think a seat should be all one material. It's odd, I know, but it's personal preference.
