I'll try to find info, but the original Silverado SS concept was the 2002 Silverado SST, pics:
it had a 6.6 liter, small block aluminum V-8, 480hp 475lb. ft of torque. It also was just one whole thing, no separate bed, which was shorter by the way.

Right, but considering that the Inferno was just the standard truck with a larger engine, it may have been the true inspiration.
I really dislike the looks of "low rider" trucks. I don't mind some sport models, that are low, but when the thing looks like it's going to take out the front bumper if you hit a squirrel really bugs me.

True, and it is sometimes a good thing, actually, often, that concepts are more exaggerated than what they actually end up producing.
