its a CAI. I wouldnt waste my money on just an intake. I've heard people gaining upto 5-10 hp from it. It came today, but it probably wont get installed till next week.

I dont think it costs that much. There are several people on maxima.org that have done it. But now that I think about it I will probably just buy another 3rd gen that already has a 5 speed and just put all the new parts from mine on the new one. It sounds much better.

Washing anything when it's cold is a bad idea... I took my car to the car wash the other morning (it was really dirty, and I knew it felt cool, but I didn't realize how cold it was), and the high pressure water soap stuff was freezing to my car seconds after I sprayed it on. Made for an interesting car wash, and when I finally got the car de-iced with a good rinse, the concrete all around the stall (and the car) had frozen solid as ice. Made it fun trying to get into the car.
