In the past few days (pictures will come of a couple of these) I've seen two H2 limos, two Mercedes CLSes, several minis (I only see one or two around here, so it was something unusual for me to see on a regular basis) a new M-Class, a couple new GSes, and a bunch of "normal" nice cars.

ZipCar is a nationwide member-only car rental agency. Users pay a monthly fee and a by-the-hour fee to use one of a half-dozen ZipCar vehicles parked in a neighborhood, while not having to pay for maintenance, insurance, parking, or having to buy a car. It's becoming an increasingly popular alternative to owning a car, walking, or public transportation for people who live in crowded cities.

Well, I can't really explain because the only towns I would use are ones around here. But there's nothing special in it, it's right on the Mississippi basically and it has about 40,000 people according to the 2000 census.

It's no hamlet then, and I assume it has a decent range of dealerships. Do you have family there?

No, my dad goes there for the railroad and we needed to shop (they've got almost everything, and a mall) so since he knows his way around that's where we went.
Oh yes, the two biggest things and I forgot. I finally got to drive the Grand Am, my mom was too paranoid before. I drove it the 200 or so miles back, I really like, of course I'm comparing it to '92 Fords and Metros, and the touchy lifeless Ram, but still. The steering is touchier than I thought but I got used to it and like it more responsive, the throttle is kind of weird too, it's a little too easy to push.
Also, we test drove a 2004 Lincoln LS V-8. It had all the options, heated and cooled front and rear seats (maybe just heated in the back), toupe leather, very nice transmission and it was the automated manual, and all for $30k. That will probably (and very very hopefully) be our next car, I loved it.

It's about 1.5 hours from our town, which is about the same from Columbia, KC is 2, St. Louis is 2.5-3. My father is a railroad engineer, and they take trains from Kansas City, to here, to Quincy (or any combination really) unless it's a coal train or a special thing. So when he's stuck at Quincy for hours waiting for a train to take home he goes around town and does stuff. Plus we used to live in Illinois and go there.

I understood a good deal of that.
And an hour and a half is quite a way to go to find a mall.
