And having a number on the speedometer doesn't mean that a car goes that fast, but not having a number on the speedometer means that it almost certainly doesn't go that fast (stock anyway).

Delorean (though somebody already said it, I see). Wasn't there some kind of stupid government regulation stating that all cars had to have 85 mph speedometers back in the 80s?
