Except that the Hemi actually delivers on its name. And it's actually selling to people who care about performance, just those who need an SUV. Like the Nissan Endurance 5.6, except the DCX engine has a name that people recognize.

HEMI is not a name you think of with Durrango, it goes with 60's CHARGER, and musclecars like that. I still dont like seeing the HEMI in an SUV, thats all. I agree with what you said about the marketing towards powerhungry people that need an SUV, but the HEMI in an SUV thing still doesn't sit right with me, thats all.

As long as they don't make a "Hemi" supercharged V6 or anything of the kind, I don't see a problem with its use (in fact, it's an extremely successful engine for DCX, largely because of its name).
You mentioned Chevrolet's SS line. As long as it sticks to good, sporty vehicles (Cobalt SS, for example) it doesn't matter what the heritage was. The Cobalt is a better SS than the current Impala or Monte Carlo, which once held that name.

You don't think they'll exploit it that far? Definitely in the next quarter century, if they're still around by then.

If you mean the fall of Chrysler, they're actually looking like they might do okay again.

I think he just means automakers' desecration of once-worthwhile names. Happens all the time.

Actually I meant that earlier iffy was arguing the point that no matter what the HEMI is a success, and now he's doing it again with SOAD.
