What scenario could you envision in which you (or anyone) would need to know two different times that couldn't be found simply from addition or subtraction?

None, but it's convenient in case you forget to add or subtract. It's going to be useful this summer, when I'll be in a time zone that's 7 hours off.

I think you're confusing the watches (I actually don't know about wizard though)

Is this what you're thinking of:

This is what I have (not really but the same layout):

I don't know the purpose of either really, but with mine it looks nicer with the dial, but I'm too slow and stupid to read it, so I have the digital.

I doubt he's confused. My watch is also like the second one pictured, one analog, one digital.

If I absolutely needed to know two times at once and didn't trust my brain for the simplest math, I'd wear a second watch (something very cheap). Both digital, what the watch looks like is a no-priority issue for me.

It's not a matter of trust, it's a matter of convenience. When you've been somewhere a while, you can tend to forget to add or subtract those hours, and people tend to get angry when you call them at 7PM, except for them, it's 2AM. And the watch wasn't that expensive, especially for a decent looking one.

Mine's all on the same time.  I just thought it looked better with dials.

I bought mine because I like the analog look, but wanted the option of an alarm and a stopwatch. I could find an analog stopwatch, but not alarm, so I got a dual one.

Too much emphasis on look here. My digital-only watch may not look classy, but it's extremely easy to reset, and has an alarm, two-function stopwatch, and a very useful day-of-the-week and date.

I have a cheap digital that I almost never wear (maybe when I go hiking, or climbing), the dual watch which looks rather classy, but isn't that expensive, and then a Seiko that cost a small fortune, and is only worn on special occasions. Looks can be very important with a watch... certain looks just don't fit certain wardrobes, and I needed something that looked somewhat nice for daily wear.

Wow, that's like exactly the same for me, except I won't get my Seiko until next Christmas probably.

What does a 15 year old need a Seiko for, really? I don't even NEED a Seiko, there are cheaper watches that look extremely nice, and would have a similar impressions to people who glance at your wrist, but I got one anyway.

How expensive is a "Seiko"? It sounds like on of those worthless yet extremely expensive wardrobe additions.
If I think my watch will look out of place? I take it off, and ask others for the time.

It depends. A cheap Seiko will probably start around $80, and they have modest gold and silver band ones for around $200, and the really nice ones go up to around $500. They're nice, and actually have gold, silver, diamonds, titanium, or whatever, but they're definitely a little expensive.

My parents bought my brother and sister one, so I get one.  Despite being/looking really nice, they're more dependable than the watch I have now, which was $40.

That's nice of them. My daily watch was close to that price range, but it's been perfectly reliable. The Seiko I've had fixed twice.

Any watch so expensive that you'd pay to fix it is outrageously overpriced, especially considering that its only advantage would be its look.

It costs a lot less than $200 to fix a watch. Buying a replacement isn't always an option. My regular watch is only $50, and it'd probably cost less to fix than replace. Well, maybe. It's been a while since I had a watch fixed. But it's only advantage isn't the look. Don't forget the gold and silver!

About the price: my point exactly. If a watch is so expensive that it's economically viable to have it repaired, it is too expensive.
And gold and silver count as the look, unless you're talking about resale value.

I never denied the Seiko was expensive, but at least in this case there's more than just a name to justify the price. And all I was saying is that you sometimes need a nice watch to complete a look. Not necessarily a $200 watch, I'm sure you could find a nice looking $40 or $50 one that no one would think of as cheap looking.
