The Corvette can cost $60,000. The Phaeton starts at $65,000.

And as I said earlier (a few pages back probably), there are so few mainstream-badged high-end cars that you can't be that picky with the examples.

Anyway, by your standards (that it would have to be another mainstream-badged $70K German luxury sedan) it is impossible to find another example, as VW is the only mainstream German brand available in the US.

Exactly, so really, you had no relevance in your argument throughout these three pages.  And it doesn't have to be German, that was just another major difference that should've been pointed out in their contrast.

Name a vehicle that meets your definition and flopped.

It works both ways, you can't go into extreme specifics when there are so few examples.

That's my point, there isn't one, so your whole 3 page discussion was pointless.

I've come up with a car that is similarly priced and also from a mainstream brand that has been very successful. Come up with something just as close that did poorly, and then you've countered that example. Until then, you haven't.

And that wouldn't be the first pointless 3-page discussion here.

I think the only reason some of these "pointless" discussions reach three pages is because Kevin gets annoyed and goes to lengths to defend things.

Defend inaccurate things.

My God you are so damn full of yourself and narrowminded to take in consideration of your hipocracy and the facts given to realize that you are not always right.

Like you said, it's like bringing in an Ion in an Acoord discussion.  You can't compare sales of a Sports Car with a 50 year-old heritage, to a Luxury Car.

But I believe the original point was that an expensive mainstream-brand car cannot succeed. 50 years ago, the Corvette had no heritage, and was not an initial success. It grew.

But anyway, the Corvette is obviously not the same as the Phaeton. It is however proof that a mainstream badge does not automatically stifle demand for any high-end car. That is a general statement that includes the Phaeton and Corvette, but doesn't discuss them directly.

I don't feel like checking so I'll take your word for it.  No hard feelings, by the way, I don't like being mad and can't stay mad either.

If you (or anyone else) get mad while on the forums, either you have a problem with anger in reality or you take things far too seriously.

Anyway, it's a good trait, being able to lose anger quickly.

If you're just talking about this forum I see you're point, but on others there are many ways to make people mad.

If you truly care what someone whom you know only as a dorky name (or possibly as an avatar or part of their sig) has to say, especially if it's something raving and idiotic (what else could get you mad?), then you do have a problem with anger.

So you're saying there is nothing at all I could say that would make you mad?

I think there are, but I'd rather not put them to practice to find out.
