Chinese car (Euro market): A good sign

While it looks like an older Mazda 626 in the rear shot, I'd say it looks impressive otherwise. Though this brand isn't slated to come here, it is a good sign for the Cherys that should be coming to the US.

It does look decent. You're right about the 626 rear, but the interior looks pretty nice. How much does that cost (US equivilant) over in Europe?

I believe Zhongua means Chinese, so it would be the Chinese Brilliance.

I found a few german websites about it. They say the top of the line model will start at under 20,000 Euro, or $25,800 US. That's pretty good, if the car is as nice as it looks. I'm still looking for engine specs.

I believe it's a 4-cyl, 150 horsepower.

There's something weird about this. This car is found on a website called "Brilliance Auto" Brilliance Auto which is a "holding company" of some sort that has involvement with a few brands. One of them is BMW. I'm still reading it, trying to figure out the connection, exactly.

Found out a little more about the BMW connection.
"The Company (through its 49.01% indirectly owned company, BMW Brilliance Automotive Limited) manufactures and sells all of its sedans under the "BMW" brand name in China. On 27th March, 2003, the Company (through its 98% indirectly owned subsidiary) entered into a joint venture contract with BMW Holding BV in relation to the establishment of the joint venture to manufacture, assemble and sale of the latest version of the BMW-designed and branded passenger cars, engines, parts and components in China. The 3-series and 5-series BMW sedans produced by the joint venture were launched in the Chinese sedan market in the 4th quarter of 2003. The BMW sedans are targeted at the premium sedan market in China."

It's a joint venture to get BMW into China, I think.

This is the company that makes the car. It has 134 horsepower, and about 148 ft-lbs torque.

Remember, Europeans like slow, fuel-efficient vehicles.

That looks pretty nice, I think the grill should be lowered a little or have a more conventional look maybe (takeout bar and put horizontal ones).  It'll need a lot more power if it comes over here, and at that price.  Looks (and sounds) like it'd be a pretty good car.

Unless you drive the Autobahn, and then you want a Porsche or Ferrari. Or at least a decently powerful Mercedes.

But as a mainstream car, 136 horsepower is plenty for the European market.

I've seen many of these in person in China, and they are a lot better than other Chinese car brands.

True. Over there my older Camry would be a nightmare.
