The basic meaning of it is nothing to understand, so no.

Not true. I happen to know that the Arkansas school system uses an "A" rating system, taking into account school performance, facilities, course offerings, and faculty evaluations. Lowest is A, highest is AAAAA. There are only 15 AAAAA schools in the state, I believe. If I had time, I could research and find out what constitutes a 5A school, other than being one of the best. That's what I meant when I asked what a Gold Star school meant. It was kindof understood that it was "recommended", I was wondering if you actually knew what being a Gold Star school meant. Which you didn't.

Well, the Gold Star Award, is, well an award. It's not a ranking system, and I know as much about it as you now about the A ranking system (which I think you're talking about size, but I'm probably wrong, we're 3A in most things, 2A in others). Also like yourself I could find out what constitutes a Gold Star School probably.

The A ranking system doesn't just go by size. Our local school district is a 5A district, and is funded out the wazoo due to that. They can afford just about anything. A larger school district a couple hours away is 4A. It's not about size, academic performance, faculty evaluations (committees are sent in twice a year and evaluate each teacher in the district based on classroom observation), course offerings (more the better, more diverse the better), and facilities (labs, gyms, theatres, etc.) are also very important.

Like I said I was probably wrong about that. We also have people come and evaluate the school, we did this about a week ago. They're the MSIP, or Missouri School Improvement Program.

Probably 1300, K-12.

No not really, in the Elementary half of the grades have computers for each student, but that's mostly grants. We also have the Area Career Center as part of our district. Back to the original question, I think we have quite a bit of funding. In the past 5 years or so we've had the High School Gym redone twice.

That just means that the people they can afford to hire couldn't get it right the first time.

Or we're practicing deficit spending and obsessive compulsive disorder (they won't let hardly anyone on the court unless it's basketball). A few years ago actually, I believe the school was in financial trouble, but I don't think we are now.
Story time: A few months ago, a principal of a nearby school was found guilty of gambling off about $450,000 of the schools money. They only had $14 in their bank account.

Sounds a lot like the corruption found in my local public schools.

I don't know if there is much corruption in the local schools around here, I wouldn't think so, considering how many people money has to go through before it's approved, but evidently they're not skimming a whole lot, because the district had a 1.7 million dollar surplus last year, according to the school board's financial report.

Well, there are a lot of normal people too, but the correct statement would be a rich area. Lots of old rich people here that live in nice houses and pay lots of taxes.

Being a normal person in a rich area is always nice.
