Ford doesn't sponsor a team that I know of, but they and Honda have nothing to do with what we were talking about.

Of course I did, that's what I was supposed to do. Explain to the ones unfamiliar with the program what it was, and get them interested, and just escort the ones around that did know what it was. It was a good time, and it's always interesting to talk to people who've made their way in their fields and businesses.

Iffy asked what GM had to do with Robots, since Ford and Honda built robots, why should GM be any different? And you people say I'm slow.

But those robots have absolutely nothing to do with the robotics program that thewizard is involved in. Slow.

It's all still robotics. Naive.

The point was the connection between automotive companies and robotics, not that it's all robotics. How thick can ya get?
And there was no specific robot, so it is nowhere near bringing in the Ion.

But this is GM sponsering a specific robotics event, not working on its own development as the other automakers did. Either you can't understand the difference, or you didn't understand GM's involvement in this event.

You're exhausting, you asked their involvement without knowing they were sponsering it, so I pointed out Ford and Honda's relation with robotics, to show that it's not shocking to have an automaker related to robotics.

But this isn't a case of an automaker designing robots for itself. It's simply sponsering a research program for young people, not setting up R&D for its own use. Ford and Honda have done no such thing.

I was replying to a question you asked before you knew this, all of that^ is irrelevant.

Okay, you two, I'll clear this up. GM sponsors three or four teams out of 1000 at this event. The types of robotics involved have ABSOLUTELY no connection to the robotics developed by Honda and Ford. They're an entirely different type of robot, and I doubt they share so much as the smallest component. We can make vague connections about other automakers being "connected with robotics" all day long, but for this realm of robotics, it IS significant to have an automaker involved. GM doesn't sponsor the event, that's done by Radioshack and Autodesk, Inc, along with fees for registration ($10,000 per team), but there is absolutely no connection between this realm of robotics and the near-android robotics that Honda and Ford played with. If you'll check the website I gave, http://www.usfirst.org , you'll see that. Now, make up and be happy.

No you didn't the argument wasn't that GM sponsored the event or built the robots, it's that there was relevance to my explaination, which you have still been to narrowminded and ignored facts to come to realize this.

Not the comment I was replying to.

thewizard specifically said that there is no similarity whatsoever between GM's involvement in this robotics event, and Ford and Honda's robotics research. Which is what I said in the very beginning.

OMG!!!! When you asked why GM was handing out pamphlets, YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT. And that is the comment I was replying to, regardless of whether wizard had already answered it, I was merely pointing out that other manufacturers are connected to robotics, so it was not highly unlikely for GM to do the same. AND I WAS REPLYING TO A POST BEFORE THIS WAS KNOWN.

You need to calm down before posting. Seriously.
Anyway, just because Ford and Honda have once developed robots does not mean that THEY hand out pamphlets at robotics events. Engineering a robot and being involved with a robotics event are not the same.
