What GM division are you?

http://www.angelfire.com/comics/lesabre_88/GM_Quiz.html

I was this:

‘Excitement’ is your middle name, for…
You are Pontiac!
Sassy and daring, no one thinks of you as a bore. You’re always the center of attention, attracting stares from passersby (for better or worse). You have your own unique sense of performance and have no problem showing it off on Interstates or city streets. Have you considered an Aztek?

I couldn't get the page to give me my result, but I took either this or a similar quiz posted on C/D, where I was Saturn.

Pontiac, I guess. The quiz apparently doesn't work too well with Firefox.

I don't know what I was expecting, but I don't think I was hoping for Pontiac. Of course, I guess there aren't really any GM divisions I'd be happy to be, but I think GMC would be the closest.

Very similar to others, and someone that many people want dead?

They're basically upscale Chevys. Chevy pickup with nicer interior=GMC. Chevy Tahoe/Suburban with nicer interior and better styling= GMC. Only GMC model that Chevy doesn't have a nearly perfect twin of: Envoy.

I really don't like any GM division in particular, but there's only one Cadillac that I actually like, and they're the only division that I consider better than GMC, so until I can find a way to like Cadillac as a whole, I'll stick with GMC.

You also have to keep in mind that the creator is a GM fanatic so he's a little more generous in the company's description, or however you want to say it.

Well, they do seem to make the least sense out of all the fanatics.

That's the biggest lie I've heard today.  And that's saying quite a bit.

I was just kidding, but on a more serious note, I can understand loyalty to a brand, but not fanaticism. GM, with the exception of the Corvette (and XLR, but it has equal and superior competitors in it's price range, if not lower), which has basically created its own segment, makes nothing exceptional, and therefore, nothing to be fanatical about. The same goes for most mainstream brands.

Brand loyalty is simply bias. That's it. And all that bias can do is to negatively affect your car buying decision (or if you're giving advice, someone else's). I have yet to find a single redeeming quality in brand loyalty, except of course for the manufacturers.

Exactly.

I would also like to point out that I only use my biased in my car buying decision and not in actual comparison.  And that is actually reducing with my suggestions of getting a Ford as a next car (for my mom).  I am still a GM fanatic but look at all possibilities and the best for our needs.  If I were buying it, though, bias would be a bigger factor.

Also something odd about me (yes, an addition to the list) is that I like to root for the underrated companies, groups, or whatever it may be.  It's kind of instinct.

Bias (not "biased", that's the adjective) hurts any car-buying experience, be it yours or someone else's.

And you're not alone in rooting for underrated brands/companies/cars. Many people do it, myself included. (Though it wouldn't be a factor in my buying decision).

It actually doesn't effect others if I'm recommending the company I hate the most.
