Mazda5 pricing to start at under $18k

Full pricing and specs up at Edmunds, and it goes on sale this summer. It should be the most fun-to-drive low-cost vehicle with a third row seat, and the only way to get a third row and a manual for under $35,000 (where I believe the SRX is the next-cheapest vehicle fitting that definition). Suffice it to say that I'm very impressed.

And BTW, I can post pics in case you don't know which vehicle I'm talking about.

It's a 4-cylinder Mazda3-based wagon with a sliding door and a third row seat. Call it what you will.

Now why didn't Mazda's publicity department hire you yet? They're calling it a sport hatchback with the practicality of a third row seat and a sliding door.

No, it's the "gifted spelling champion's" term.

Pricing sounds good, styling looks nice, and the interior looks great. I'm not a minivan-thing kind of person, but I'd like to see this in person.

Are there any cars that you wouldn't?

The Subaru Tribeca, for one.

Some people on C/D have said that it looks better in person.

I agree, but that's still not saying too much.  It is much better than the Aztek if anyone goes on comparing them.

I don't think that the SRX comes with a manual....

Then it's the only one under an even higher price. My point was clear, despite the example.

I'm willing to bet 95% of the SRX owners wouldn't change that if they could, either.
